What is one nominated patient worth?

How it works

The nomination value calculator estimates what a single EPS-nominated patient is worth to your pharmacy: the value per item, multiplied by the items that patient collects each month, multiplied by the months and years they stay nominated. It then multiplies that by a realistic number of new nominations a month so you can see what a working nomination form or a counter script is worth over a year.

How the calculation works

Items per patient per month × value per item × 12 gives the annual figure; multiplied by the years a patient typically stays gives the relationship value. The “ten a month for a year” line assumes ten new nominations every month, each earning from the month they arrive.

Assumptions to check

• Value per item defaults to a conservative figure. Use your own margin per item after the single activity fee and any retained purchase margin; it varies by contract year and by what you dispense.
• Items per patient is an average across your nominated base; patients on several regular medicines will be higher.
• Years a patient stays is your retention. Pharmacies with a working repeat form and delivery service keep patients longer.
• The calculator does not include private services, OTC spend or the income from services delivered to that patient, all of which make the real figure higher.

How to read the result

Compare the annual value of one nomination against the monthly cost of anything you are considering — a website, an app, a member of staff on the counter for an extra hour.
